Legal Secretary – Civil Litigation

We are currently seeking a Civil Litigation Legal Secretary with particular experience in Medical Negligence to join our busy Civil Litigation Department.

Duties

  • Providing Secretarial Support to the Litigation Partner
  • Audio type all documents as instructed
  • Prepare documents from precedents
  • Preparing Briefs for Counsel
  • Drafting and amending court documents, letters and other documentation accurately
  • Communicating with and assisting clients, when required, in a professional manner
  • Managing the Diary of the Partner on a daily basis and ensure that there is a pre-defined schedule for booking meetings and events etc.
  • Acting as gatekeeper, answering the phone, fielding calls, responding to and dealing with queries, relaying accurate messages
  • Assisting and supporting other secretaries within the department in the case of heavy workloads and demanding schedules
  • Providing cover when other secretaries in the department are absent
  • Any other administrative tasks/duties that may be assigned

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 Years’ experience as a Legal Secretary in the area of Litigation and Medical Negligence
  • Strong skills in Dictaphone typing including fast and accurate typing speeds – this will be tested
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with the Partner and other secretaries on the team
  • Pro-active approach to completing the assigned work and delivering to tight deadlines
  • The ability to manage a large workload and be able to prioritise on a daily basis
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to details is essential
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • ively and efficiently
