We are currently seeking a Civil Litigation Legal Secretary with particular experience in Medical Negligence to join our busy Civil Litigation Department.
Duties
- Providing Secretarial Support to the Litigation Partner
- Audio type all documents as instructed
- Prepare documents from precedents
- Preparing Briefs for Counsel
- Drafting and amending court documents, letters and other documentation accurately
- Communicating with and assisting clients, when required, in a professional manner
- Managing the Diary of the Partner on a daily basis and ensure that there is a pre-defined schedule for booking meetings and events etc.
- Acting as gatekeeper, answering the phone, fielding calls, responding to and dealing with queries, relaying accurate messages
- Assisting and supporting other secretaries within the department in the case of heavy workloads and demanding schedules
- Providing cover when other secretaries in the department are absent
- Any other administrative tasks/duties that may be assigned
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 Years’ experience as a Legal Secretary in the area of Litigation and Medical Negligence
- Strong skills in Dictaphone typing including fast and accurate typing speeds – this will be tested
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with the Partner and other secretaries on the team
- Pro-active approach to completing the assigned work and delivering to tight deadlines
- The ability to manage a large workload and be able to prioritise on a daily basis
- Strong organisational skills and attention to details is essential
- Proficient in MS Office
